All four systems are based on the same core technology but differ in their degree of automation, assistance features and information density. While V-ROX is designed as a cost-efficient entry-level solution for fast routine inspections, V-ROX plus additionally supports the operator through integrated assistance systems. The 3D variants further enable advanced defect analysis through 3D visualization.

Not every application requires maximum information density or full 3D analysis. The product family makes it possible to tailor systems precisely to specific requirements, workflows and budgets. V-ROX can be operated both manually (thanks to integrated handles) and in automated setups such as robotic or inline inspection systems.

voidsy systems are particularly suited for safety-critical industries where material defects must be detected reliably. These include aerospace and aviation, the energy sector (especially wind energy), applications involving composite materials and selected areas within the automotive and industrial sectors.

In active thermography, a component is intentionally thermally stimulated. An infrared detector then records the material’s thermal response. Defects influence the internal heat flow within the component and thereby become visible. Photothermal tomography extends this method through spatial analysis of the measurement data, facilitating additional information—such as defect depth—to be determined.

Active thermography enables fast, non-contact and large-area inspection of components. Unlike ultrasonic testing, no coupling media such as water are required, allowing inspections to be performed completely dry. At the same time, larger inspection areas can be captured quickly without additional effort. Compared to radiographic methods such as X-ray or CT inspection, active thermography does not entail any ionizing radiation. As a result, no special radiation protection measures are required, which significantly simplifies integration into industrial applications.

The minimum required inspection time depends on the material and structural thickness of the component. For a 5 mm carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) structure, a measurement typically takes around 60 seconds while covering an inspection area of approximately 400 × 320 mm. Compared to methods such as ultrasonic testing or computed tomography, V-ROX therefore enables significantly faster inspections (while also remaining non-contact and free from ionizing radiation).

No. Our systems are designed for industrial environments and do not require complex infrastructure. In most cases, a standard laptop is sufficient for data evaluation and analysis.

V-ROX systems are designed for simple and safe operation in industrial environments. Unlike X-ray-based methods, they do not entail lasers or ionizing radiation. Thermal stimulation is generated using halogen lamps. As with other electrical devices, heated surfaces should not be touched during operation.

Yes. The systems can be flexibly adapted to different component sizes. By adjusting the working distance, the measurement field can be enlarged, although the optical resolution changes depending on the application. At a standard working distance of 700 mm, the lateral resolution is approximately 610 µm, while the material-dependent depth resolution is around 100 µm. Resolution decreases with increasing inspection depth.

Yes. voidsy systems were intentionally developed as a fully integrated technology ecosystem. The hardware generates the thermal measurement data, while the software processes and prepares the data for interpretation in real time. Both components are precisely coordinated to provide an intuitive and high-performance inspection workflow. As a result, voidsy hardware operates exclusively with voidsy software.

Yes. Every V-ROX system is delivered with the corresponding base software, enabling measurements and basic evaluations to be performed immediately. Advanced analysis functions and additional software packages are available as optional upgrades at any time.

Yes. The V-ROX platform has a modular architecture and can be expanded whenever required. Hardware and software upgrades enable additional functionality or higher performance levels without replacing the entire system. All upgrades are carried out directly by voidsy.
